Denim: J.Crew. T-shirt: J.crew. Blazer: Equipment (similar here). Boots: Swedish Hasbeens. Sunnies: Karen Walker. Wallet: Prada.

I love the combination of casual basics paired with more formal wear, like these cut-off jean shorts and navy blazer. The shorts and striped tee make the blazer less stuffy, while the blazer brings more pizzazz to the outfit. Lately, I’ve felt a little stuck when dressing up to go to brunch or early dinner with friends. I’m constantly battling a feeling of being overdressed or underdressed, so am attempting to find a balance. What do you think about this combination?

On a totally unrelated note, I went and saw Amy on Sunday, and loved it. It was so heart-wrenchingly sad and utterly beautiful all at once. I had to take time to walk it off a bit afterwards, and was left thinking about it days later. Like one critic mentioned, in-your-face-intimate.

blue denim

Romper: J.Crew. Jacket: J.Crew. Shoes: Michael Kors. Jewelry: Gorjana, David Yurman.

We like rompers around here, can you tell? They are so easy to toss on and go, making this J.Crew playsuit one of my summer staples. I’ve paired with flat sandals, slides and these wedge platforms to take me from daytime to evening.

Allen and I have had a pretty adventurous past few weekends, backpacking outside of Bend, joining my sister and dad on the PCT and most recently, rafting the Rogue River. The trips were fabulous, but after all that adventure, bug spray and trucker hats, nothing makes me feel more like myself than coming home and throwing on a nice outfit.

Dress: J.Crew (40% off with code LONGWEEKEND). Sandals: Sam Edelman (similar here). Sunnies: Celine. Jewelry: Cartier.

Oh hello! What has it been…three weeks? I’m sorry. Work got crazy, and then I took a trip to Europe and gallivanted around a bit. Hope everyone had a fantastic Fourth of July weekend! It was so nice to spend the weekend at home, hanging in my neighborhood and spending quality time with my honey.

I bought this dress with the holiday in mind, but also for many more warm days to follow. I love the ease of it, effortless with a simple pair of sandals or flats and small clutch. And these Sam Edelman sandals are irreplaceable – honestly and truly. I don’t know what I’ll do the day they finally decide to give out on me.

It’s nice to be back, chat soon.

summer romp

TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUERomper: Splendid (on sale!). Sandals: Adam Tucker (old, but similar here and here). Bag: Cole Haan (similar). Sunglasses: Ray-Ban (similar here).

Two things: 1) I lived in this romper all last weekend when it was 90+ degrees. 2) I had just eaten 1.5 cheeseburgers and a half order of onion rings from Helvetia Tavern when this pic was taken. Can we just call a spade a spade and say that rompers are the greatest, most flattering item of clothing ever made?

floral romper

TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUEJumpsuit: BB Dakota. Sandals: J.Crew (on sale!). Sunnies: Gucci. Bag: A.P.C. Cuff: Mikal Winn.

Summer is (un)officially here, so I think it’s (un)officially time to bust out my new floral jumpsuit. (Y’all remember how much I love the jumpsuit, right?) It’s breezy, pretty and ultra-flattering for us short busty gals that have trouble pulling off the maxi dress. I wore this outfit to my friends’ co-ed wedding shower in Oregon City last weekend and felt like a million bucks.

Also, I cannot get enough of these sandals. Wore them 5 days in a row last week. My coworkers might think I have a problem.
