let’s talk skincare

The other day, I was texting with my friend Brooke, and she mentioned that she wanted a new skincare routine. She said her complexion was looking lackluster and wanted to know if I had any skincare product recommendations. To be honest, I’ve never given much thought to skincare – I’ve always kept things pretty minimal – but her question got me thinking…

Ever since I got pregnant, my skin has gone from “fine” to “dull”. (I somehow missed out on those wonderful pregnancy side effects like glossy locks and glowing skin.) Blemishes, patchy dryness, puffiness – barf. Spurred on by Brooke’s question, I decided to do something about it and started exploring new skincare products. And what a difference it has made! My skin has honestly never looked better. Tight, even and, save for the occasional pimple, blemish free. These are the products I’m using on a regular basis, in case any of you are looking to amp up dull skin.

Clarisonic face wash and brush. I’ve been using this face wash day and night for a couple of years now and love it. I use the brush on an almost once-daily basis in the shower for a deep clean. My skin feels so fresh after using the brush.

Jergen’s Natural Glow face moisturizer. It may be basic, but this is the best daily face moisturizer, period. SPF20? Check. Slight tanning quality? Check. Hydrating? Check. I love it. Use it in the morning for all-day protection.

M-61 Jetglow Serum. I got a sample of this from Bluemercury, and now I’m hooked! My skin tone and has drastically improved since I started using this product at night. I also love how much tighter my skin feels – a great anti-aging benefit as I head into the last year of my 20s.

Eye cream. I’ve been dabbling in a few eye creams lately, and my current favorites are Bliss’s eye gel, Kiehl’s avocado eye cream, and MAC’s Fast Response Eye Cream. They all seem to work great – my eyes are bright and fresh – so pick your poison! I also got my hands on some M-61 Hydraboost Eye that I’m excited to start using.

Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action Cream. This is specific to pregnancy, but I rub this on my belly, boobs and (occasionally) hips after every shower. No stretch marks yet.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque. This is a little embarrassing to admit, but I learned about this product from Victoria Beckham’s book That Extra Half an Inch. I slather it on once a week and reap the glowing benefits for days. A must-have, in my opinion.

Frank Scrub. This product has a huge cult following, which automatically made me a little skeptical of its effectiveness. One scrub later, and I am singing its praises. My skin has never felt softer than after using this product. Head-to-toe smoothness. Something about the oils and coffee grounds? I don’t know, just try it, you won’t be sorry. It is my Sunday pampering obsession.

I’m curious – what skincare products do you love?
