5 can’t-miss events at feast portland

Feast Portland is less than three months away (where has the time gone?! summer! staaahhhp!). If you’re not familiar with Feast, it is a gigantic, three-day culinary whirlwind hosted at various venues and parks around town. (You may also remember Kelsey’s write-up from last year. Drooling.)

This year’s festival is shaping up to be more delicious than ever with chefs flying in from all corners of the USA to showcase their culinary accomplishments. Here are five can’t-miss events from this year’s lineup.

EVENT: USA Pears – Night Market

WHEN: Friday, 9/18, 6-9pm

WHERE: Zidell Yards

WHY: A lively culinary adventure under the stars. All you can eat/drink global street fare from the likes of John Gorham, Kyo Koo, and Johanna Ware, among many others. This is the most popular of Feast’s large events – for good reason!

EVENT: Widmer Brothers Brewing – Sandwich Invitational (presented by Dave’s Killer Bread)

WHEN: Thursday, 9/17, 6-9pm

WHERE: Director Park

WHY: Everything is better between two slices of bread… This is Feast Portland’s kick-off event, and a rowdy one at that! If you love wildly imaginative sandwiches, Eggslut, and/or Duff Goldman (guilty!), you do not want to miss this one.

EVENT: Bon Appétit – Hot Ten Dinner

WHEN: Thursday, 9/17, 7pm

WHERE: KitchenCru Culinary Prepspace

WHY: A dinner party to top all dinner parties. Those lucky enough to score tickets to this sold-out event (sadly, I am not one of them) will experience some of the nation’s best restaurants, hosted by Bon Appétit’s Andrew Knowlton and Adam Rapoport.

EVENT: Margarita’s Moment

WHEN: Friday, 9/18, 4-5pm

WHERE: Portland Art Museum Evans H. Roberts Sculpture Hall

WHY: Nothing beats a well-made Margarita on a hot day (except maybe a Paloma – what can I say, I’m a tequila girl). Cut out of work a little early and learn how to make a world-class Margarita from some major names in the cocktail game.

EVENT: Oregonian Media Group – Smoked!

WHEN: Saturday, 9/19, 6-9pm

WHERE: KitchenCru Culinary Prepspace

WHY: Closing out the weekend is a brand new marquee event featuring flame masters from the Portland area and beyond. The chef lineup for this one is pretty impressive. Can’t wait to see what sort of “smoked” delight Salt & Straw have dreamed up for us!
