Happy New Year friends! What are you up to today? I’m currently hanging out in the kitchen with my husband, watching him make breakfast and sipping a mug of green tea (I force myself to down one every morning before switching over to my beloved coffee). Later, we’re heading over to our friends’ house to watch the Oregon vs. Florida State game – Go Ducks!

I’ve been off work the last couple of weeks, which has allowed me to really slow down, reflect on the past year, and evaluate my goals for the year ahead. 2014 was an incredible year full of important milestones, both career-wise and personally, but there are things I wish I’d done differently. This year, I want to let go and put myself out there more – learn new skills, see the world, spend more time with family and friends and less time fixated on work. I want to stop being so hard on myself and embrace imperfection. I want to blog more, read more, write more, cook more. I want to finish decorating my home and fill it with memories of nights spent drinking, eating and laughing with loved ones. I want to connect with people, make mistakes, and choose happiness every single day.

There’s a quote floating around right now from Diane von Furstenberg that I find myself going back to over and over again – she says, “Sleep is easier to make up than a unique evening.” Too often, I set aside adventure for what’s smart and responsible. Here’s to taking risks, to new adventures, and to creating unique experiences in 2015. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good year.
