My family and I spent the weekend just a mile from Tumalo State Park celebrating my grandpa’s 80th birthday. Our mornings were spent lounging around the 290-acre ranch we were renting, fishing at the ponds and feeding the chickens. Afternoons cooling off in the Deschutes river and reading in the summer heat, and evenings of flip cup, dance parties and sunset viewings. Bend holds a very special place in my heart, a place I hope to always return to.
Bend has a little something for everyone. Crux and Good Life are a couple of my favorite breweries, both have fabulous outdoor space and hops to write home about. 900 Wall and Ariana for Portland-style fine dining and Sparrow Bakery for some seriously sweet treats. Paddleboarding on the Deschutes, or if that’s not quite your speed, walk the River Trail. Whatever you do, just get goin.
