southpark

There are few things I enjoy more than dining out in Portland. Thanks to a flourishing restaurant scene, we Portlanders are positively spoilt for choice on the food front. There are noodle shops and vegetarian places and food carts and French restaurants and brunch spots and burrito joints and macaron bars and on and on and on and they’re all fantastic and don’t require reservations and probably don’t even take reservations and are affordable because it’s f*cking Portland!

But I digress. The reason I bring you here today is to discuss Southpark, an understatedly elegant seafood restaurant in the heart of downtown Portland (SW Salmon & Park, to be exact). I’ve dined here multiple times, most recently for dinner with family, and have yet to be disappointed. In fact, I have yet to leave here without raving that it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The menu is constantly changing, with several different fresh seafood specials a night, but the food is consistently great. On Sunday, I ordered a whole smoked branzino with fennel and mushrooms (pictured below) and ate every morsel. Seriously.
