same stripes, different story

TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUE TWELFTH AVENUET-shirt: J.Crew (similar). Jeans: Joe’s. Sunnies: Ray-Ban (similar). Bag: Cole Haan. Flats: Steve Madden (similar).

Last week, Phil failed to kill a spider in my closet. Let me repeat that: He failed to kill a spider in my closet. This hairy, eight legged mofo with a body the size of my thumb was just hanging out in the corner above my shelf of jeans and handbags like it was no big deal. Let me tell you something, it was a big freakin’ deal. I don’t consider myself an arachnophobe, but this spider was big enough to scare even Phil, apparently. You see, Phil is of the persuasion that spiders do not deserve to have their lives taken from them by freaked out humans, so usually he catches them in his hand (what?!) and frees them into the wild. But homeboy in the closet, not even my spider lover of a husband was willing to spare his life. Phil claims it had fangs (whatever). So he grabbed a sneaker, climbed up on a step stool (haha) and half-heartedly (IMO) swatted at the creepy little bugger while I cowered just outside the door with my face in my hands. Then he said, “I didn’t get it”, and all hell broke loose in the Howeshold. Needless to say, for the past week, I have been living in terror, knocking my shoes upside down before I put them on and making Phil get my jeans down for me. Every day gets a little easier, but I don’t know if I’ll ever truly get over it.

All this to say that it is a miracle I even have an outfit to show you, let alone on a Wednesday. Happy hump day!

HAHA I love this. I’m one of those weirdos who picks spiders up and takes them outside too. (Usually in my hands, unless they’re extra creepy – or furry – in which case I’ll use a cup and a piece of paper.)

I love the outfit, too. That bag is super cute!

Thanks Sarah! You are very brave – I won’t go near them unless I intend to flatten them with the bottom of my shoe 🙂
