riff on cocktails


Last night, we attended Riffle NW’s Blogger Happy Hour. Bar director Brandon Josie, along with his fantastic mustache, treated us to a few cocktails and showed us how he riffs on basic cocktail recipes to create customized libations for the Riffle crowd.

Some of our favorite riffs included Brandon’s take on the highball cocktail, the aptly named David Douglas, which combined olive oil washed gin, eau de vie, carbonated water and lime; a tequila cocktail with rhubarb gastrique and lime juice; and the vieux carre, which is currently on tap.

Later in the evening, Riffle rolled out the big guns with a preview of its $20 cocktail and small plate tasting menu, which was damn delicious and will be available in the bar starting next week. So, if you need to get ahold of us, that’s where we’ll be. Cocktail in one hand, scallop in the other.
