the aughts are in

Kelsey and I snapped these shots last Saturday in the Pearl before heading out to dinner (she to the Eastside, me to Northwest Portland). Two of my best friends got engaged a few weeks ago, and we felt like celebrating with (what else?) a decadent dinner and cocktails at Wildwood. Dessert may have also been involved, but more on that later.

On another note, is anyone else really excited that the black pointed stiletto is back with a vengeance? Although the nineties are and will always remain my favorite fashion decade, I welcome a shameful creep back to the aughts and my super classy high school/sorority days, when a pointed black stiletto fit every occasion, social or otherwise. Of course, back then, I thought skinny jeans were a flash in the pan meant only for the super skinny (I also thought DVD players would never catch on) and paired my stilettos with boot cuts and silk tops (the horror). Today, the sleek footwear begs for the chic-without-trying Emmanuelle Alt treatment, which is what I’ve tried to accomplish here. Jury’s still out.
